Job Description: The Events and Alumni Engagement Coordinator plays a pivotal role in fostering community engagement and alumni relations for The Gunston School. This position supports the school’s mission by executing well-established strategies for events, alumni programs, and community-building initiatives. The Coordinator ensures that all events and programs are seamlessly executed, creating meaningful connections among students, alumni, families, and the broader Gunston community.
Responsibilities:
Event Coordination
Oversee the planning and execution of events that reflect Gunston’s mission and values ensuring event logistics and details are effectively managed, delivering high-quality experiences for attendees.
Manage the logistics and execution of major fundraising and community events, such as the Bull & Oyster Roast, Golf Tournament, and Pickleball Tournament.
Assist with logistics for school-wide events, including Graduation, Night of the Arts, and cultural or celebratory gatherings.
Collaborate with internal teams to support staff gatherings, student ceremonies, and other institutional events.
Alumni Engagement
Plan and execute alumni-focused events, including Alumni Weekend, January Alumni Week, and Hoopsgiving.
Facilitate alumni participation in philanthropic initiatives, including fundraising campaigns and engagement programs.
Organize volunteer opportunities, such as alumni advisory board activities and student panels.
Collect and share alumni updates, stories, and achievements through publications, social media, and the Alumni Portal.
Promote the use of the Alumni Portal and support alumni in accessing its features.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Proficiency in event planning, logistics, and data management.
Experience with the Google Suite
Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Raiser’s Edge,) and social media platforms is preferred.
Enthusiasm for building relationships and engaging with a vibrant community.
Work Environment: Reporting to the Director of Institutional Advancement, this role operates as a key player in the Advancement Office, focusing on executing established strategies for alumni engagement and events.
