ABOUT THE POSITION:
Position Title: Upper School Hawaiian Language Teacher
Faculty Position: SY2025-26
Hawai'i Preparatory Academy seeks a dedicated, experienced, and collaborative teacher to serve as the Hawaiian Language instructor within our Upper School World Language Department. The teaching assignment includes five classes ranging from levels one through five honors. The ideal candidate should be capable of teaching a range of students, from beginner to native speakers.

General Duties and Responsibilities
- Instruct five sections of Hawaiian Language to students in grades 9-12.
- Collaborate with colleagues for culturally relevant curriculum planning and assessment.
- Be a member of a grade-level advisory group and support a small group of students within an advisory cohort.
- Post all assignments and promptly provide individual feedback on progress and earned marks.
- Contribute to HPA's co-curricular programs, which may include coaching, club leadership, or residential life activities.
- Obtain and maintain proper licensure for driving a school vehicle as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hawaiian Language, Hawaiian Studies, or a related discipline.
- Three to five years of experience teaching Hawaiian at the high school level.
- Proficiency in teaching students from beginner to advanced levels.
- Desire to work as a team player with faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Proven ability to collaborate with teachers, departments, and school leadership.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with curriculum development and culturally relevant teaching practices.
- Emotional resilience and dependability to meet the demands of the position.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to contribute to the broader school community.
Physical Demands
- Be able to sit at the desk and computer terminal for extended periods.
- Be able to lift 30 pounds of weight.
