Vocal Music Director - Cranbrook Upper & Middle Schools

Cranbrook Kingswood is looking for a collaborative, organized, and enthusiastic Vocal Music Director to lead and coordinate the choral programs at both the Upper School and Middle Schools. The anticipated start date will be July 2025. Collaboration within a dynamic Performing Arts department, creation of powerful learning experiences for a globally diverse student body, commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of adolescents through personal relationships, setting a positive tone, and treating students as individuals within the context of a broader community, are all critical components of this position. 

The Vocal Music Director teaches five classes/five preps across two schoolhouses, works collaboratively with other members of the Upper School Performing Arts department on school concerts, the musical, and other performances, and contributes meaningfully to the wide array of activities supported by the Upper School in general, and its Performing Arts department specifically.  Additionally, it is understood that the successful candidate has a demonstrated commitment to work in an extraordinarily diverse and inclusive community, and to participate in an enriching residential program.

Cranbrook is a PK-12 school with a vibrant boarding component in grades 9-12, allowing the school to provide teachers with the opportunity to live and work on our architecturally famous 319-acre campus. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music or a related field, with a Master’s degree preferred, and five or more years of experience leading high school vocal programs.  Enthusiasm for teaching and working with adolescents and excellent communication skills are expected of all teachers.
