The Kinkaid School seeks a dynamic, innovative director for the new Center for STEM starting in July 2025. The ideal candidate will have an eye toward the future of STEM education, experience creating and implementing STEM curricula and student programming, and a love for teaching and mentoring students.
Reporting to the Assistant Head of School, the Director will coordinate STEM programs, teach classes, and facilitate and implement community programming. The Director will serve as a liaison and advisor to provide guidance and support for division-specific and school-wide programs. While this position has no direct reports, the Director will work in partnership with Division Heads, collaborate with Department Chairs and faculty in the STEM areas, and also work with many faculty in non-STEM Departments since STEM disciplines interact with many areas of the school. The Director of the Center for STEM will play an integral role in developing programming and operations for the brand-new state-of-the-art STEM areas in our new Upper School facility opening in the Fall of 2025 and supporting the expansion of STEM facilities in the Middle and Lower Schools as a part of the transformation of STEM facilities at Kinkaid.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promote, align, plan, coordinate, and direct various STEM programs serving students, families, faculty, and staff.
Teach two STEM courses and the associated duties (division determined based on scheduling alignment)
Oversee and coordinate STEM speaker series, events, and workshops and lead at least one club or other extracurricular STEM activity
Promote and support student STEM independent research projects and internships
Collaborate, advise, and coordinate Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools on STEM curriculum, clubs, extracurricular activities, and initiatives related to the STEM
Promote and celebrate the Center for STEM and STEM activities and accomplishments through presentations and written articles
Build mutually beneficial partnerships with STEM organizations in the Houston community
Manage the budget for the Center for STEM
Engage with the school community by attending school events
Bachelor’s degree in education or a STEM field (required)
Master’s degree in a STEM area (preferred)
At least five years of experience teaching in a STEM area
The ideal candidate will have experience collaborating with other educators and designing, implementing, and evaluating STEM curricula and student programming
