Aspen Country Day School seeks a full-time Middle School History teacher for the 2025-26 academic year.
This PreK-Eighth Grade school is known for its intentional approach to challenging and nurturing children as they build confidence, resilience, and joy in learning. Vibrant academic, arts, and outdoor programs led by dedicated teachers give students a solid foundation for lives of meaning and purpose. At its campus in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the school welcomes approximately 300 students from throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Guide students toward achievement of the graduate outcomes of Aspen Country Day School
Design lessons grounded in established ACDS curriculum for Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grade students
Assess student work and provide meaningful feedback to students regularly
Instruct students and manage the classroom in concert with school philosophy
Help children with organization, problem solving, and conflict resolution to support individual needs
Communicate professionally and effectively with parents, teachers, administrators, and colleagues
Participate in outdoor experiential education, including ski afternoons, day outings, and overnight trips
Attend required in-service days, meetings, and training sessions as designated
Assist with team projects, including fall move-in and spring move-out of all classroom furniture and materials
Supervise students outside the classroom as assigned (recess, lunch, etc.)
Adhere to guidelines, procedures, and policies in the Employee Handbook
Successful candidates will have:
Bachelor’s degree and teaching experience at the Middle School level
Professional desire to develop or continue to develop teaching skills in the academic disciplines as well as the on-going work of social/emotional development of children
Understanding of child development and fondness for the mercurial nature of middle school students
Demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning in a dynamic school community
Ability to work in a collegial and highly collaborative environment
Skill in the use of technology: including, but not limited to G Suite for Education, student information system
Adaptability in teaching environments -- from the traditional classroom to settings on campus, online, or outdoors
A growth mindset, warm personality, creative approach, and excellent organizational and communication skills
