Episcopal High School in Alexandria Virginia, is seeking a full-time HVAC technician to assist the HVAC Lead with troubleshooting, installing, repairing, servicing, and overhauling commercial and residential HVAC and associated equipment, performing journeyman level work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the HVAC Lead with installing and repairing motors, motor controllers and associated electrical pilot control devices.
Assists the HVAC Lead with installing sheet metal accessories and equipment, including air handlers, exhaust fans, fire dampers, louvers, etc.
Assists in the maintenance and administration of water treatment as appropriate to HVAC systems.
Assists the HVAC Lead with performing chemical tests to maintain chemical control.
Must be available to work overtime as required, including weekends and possible after-hours shifts, to ensure operational needs are met.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Required to inspect crawl spaces, attics, laboratories, ventilation equipment, mechanical rooms, mechanical shafts, sub basements and confined, isolated areas, including manholes and steam tunnels.
Risk exposure to asbestos, toxic vapors, heat, cold, height and accumulated dirt.
May be required to use personal vehicle for School purposes.
Will work as a team member responsible for the overall operation, safety and events coordination for a boarding school, will need to help with school setups and snow removal.
Qualifications & Prerequisites:
High School diploma or equivalent is required
Must have a minimum of seven (7) years industry experience with a strong knowledge of electrical trade and the ability to read shop and field drawings
Must have basic working knowledge of computers
Must have basic knowledge of parts inventories and warehousing
Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
Ability to lift 100+ pounds and position heavy equipment and materials
Must possess a valid state driver’s license
Successful completion of a criminal records fingerprint background check
