Salary: $40,500.00 - $60,000.00 Prorated for a part-time rate
BB&N offers competitive salaries and benefits and employs equitable and consistent compensation practices. Our compensation strategy prioritizes equity of pay for faculty with similar years of teaching experience. Starting full-time salaries for the 2024-2025 school year typically range from a starting salary of $67,500 to the median 20-year teaching experience salary of $100,146.00 Both of these salaries are exclusive of additional compensation granted to faculty with relevant advanced degrees. The starting salary for any hired candidate is based on experience within salary bands. In February 2025 the school will announce normal compensation increases which will increase these salaries for the 2025-2026 school year.

Job Summary:
BB&N is seeking a Part-time Upper School History to teach two or three sections of Global and/or United States history. We are seeking a knowledgeable History teacher who values student voice and agency, utilizes a variety of pedagogical approaches, can work independently, and is excited to work as part of a team in curriculum development.
Other faculty member responsibilities at BB&N may encompass advising, as well as community, athletic/coaching, and student life activities and program needs. Candidates should be comfortable working with colleagues in designing, innovating, and delivering a curriculum that incorporates skill development, metacognition, and cultural competency and that caters to a range of student learners.
Skills and Competencies:
BB&N seeks candidates who:
Have teaching experience and an educational background in United States history and Global history. Experience teaching other social science courses is beneficial, but not required. Preference will be given to teachers with 3-5 years of experience teaching history at the high school level.
Hold an undergraduate degree in history or a related field. An advanced degree in history, education, or a similar field is preferred.
Possess a passion for history and teaching that contributes to a dynamic and engaging classroom experience for students
Balance pedagogical approaches to teaching (inquiry and project based learning, small group work, seminar discussions, Socratic conversations, project and problem based assignments, etc.)
Work effectively with a diverse group of people, including students, parents, faculty, and staff
Thrive as part of a collaborative team of colleagues within the History Department and with teachers in other disciplines
Demonstrate dedication to supporting adolescent growth and development
Value advancing students’ knowledge and affirmation of themselves and others
Are committed to working in and fostering an inclusive community by advancing the efforts of anti-racism and equity in their classes and the broader community
