The Lovett School, an independent K-12 day school in Atlanta, GA, seeks a middle school science teacher to begin August 2025. Interested applicants should have experience teaching middle school science (Earth, Life, and Physical). Applicants should be comfortable with project-based learning and hands-on science experiences, including dissection. Strong collaboration skills within and among departments will be expected.
Develops curriculum materials including course outlines, syllabi, and other instructional material
Carries out all responsibilities associated with teaching the assigned classes
Conducts before and after school tutorials as scheduled
Participates in regularly scheduled department, faculty, team, interdisciplinary, and grade-level meetings
Ensures that students adhere to The Lovett School behavioral guidelines
Is involved in the life of the school outside of the classroom
Fulfills additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a strong background in biological and/or physical science required, master’s degree or higher preferred
The drive, organization, and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the school community beyond the classroom
Excellent written and oral communication skills to facilitate effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and supervisors
Employment of a variety of instructional techniques, including the meaningful use of technology, to engage students and further their critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity
A strong desire to work in a collaborative learning community, employing a growth mindset
Desire and ability to develop an atmosphere of trust and knowledge of students as individuals
Demonstrated flexibility and responsiveness to a variety of learning styles and across a range of abilities
Ethical behavior, professionalism, and respect for diversity
Regular and reliable attendance
