Responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with the head teacher to support classroom routines and to establish a warm, nurturing environment in which student embrace learning with curiosity
- Collaborating with the grade level team around curricular planning, classroom culture and community, special programs, and student needs
- Supporting student learning through small group and individual instruction in reading, writing, and math
- Leading whole group activities with the support of lead teacher
- Supporting students development of social and emotional competencies
- Maintaining ongoing communication about student needs and progress with lead teacher
- Attending a weekly faculty meeting, grade level meeting, and other professional development opportunities
- Supervising lunch, recess, and earlybird arrival
Qualifications and dispositions:
- Bachelor's degree in education or work towards an advanced degree in education
- One-two years experience working with children in kindergarten- third grade classroom setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships with students, parents, and teachers
- Collaborates and works successfully as an integral part of a team
- Able to think creatively and approach situations with flexibility and creativity
- Demonstrates cultural competency and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and belonging
- Strong work ethic and ability to learn new skills quickly
