Responsibilities include:
Collaborating with the head teacher to support classroom routines and to establish a warm, nurturing environment in which student embrace learning with curiosity
Collaborating with the grade level team around curricular planning, classroom culture and community, special programs, and student needs
Supporting student learning through small group and individual instruction in reading, writing, and math
Leading whole group activities with the support of lead teacher
Supporting students development of social and emotional competencies
Maintaining ongoing communication about student needs and progress with lead teacher
Attending a weekly faculty meeting, grade level meeting, and other professional development opportunities
Supervising lunch, recess, and earlybird arrival
Qualifications and dispositions:
Bachelor's degree in education or work towards an advanced degree in education
One-two years experience working with children in kindergarten- third grade classroom setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships with students, parents, and teachers
Collaborates and works successfully as an integral part of a team
Able to think creatively and approach situations with flexibility and creativity
Demonstrates cultural competency and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and belonging
Strong work ethic and ability to learn new skills quickly
