Germantown Friends School is seeking a flexible part-time School Nurse who will work in conjunction with the other department staff to support students and employees.
Responsibilities Include:
Provide nursing care to ill and injured students and employees.
Perform nursing evaluation and treatment for students according to existing school nurse office protocols.
Manage and maintain student health records.
Respond to students who are ill and communicate with key individuals about the illness. Communication may include caregivers, athletics, sports medicine, teachers, academic support staff, or school leadership.
Track and maintain inventory by monitoring medical supply levels, track expiration dates, and date multi-dose bottles when opened.
Track and monitor communicable diseases, meeting regularly with nurse office staff for review.
Track and monitor injuries and PE/athletics participation, meeting regularly with nurse office staff for review
Monitor remote data as assigned for tracking blood glucose control for students with Diabetes Type I
Familiarity with student health emergency plans (ex. Epipen administration, albuterol or rescue inhaler administration, insulin, Solu-Cortef).
Respond to student health emergencies on campus as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Team player. The school nurses collaborate with school counselors, athletic trainers, faculty and staff, and each other.
Ability to practice autonomously. Working autonomously is paramount to the position as is the ability to make appropriate decisions on a daily basis.
Ability to calmly respond to health situations that arise on campus.
Must be able to calmly respond to health situations that arise on campus and work to resolve situations quickly.
Multicultural and inclusivity awareness and social skills to work with the entire population required in this role.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in speech and writing with students, parents, and employees on a daily basis.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the state of Pennsylvania
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
Current CPR/BLS/AED certification required
Three to five years of practical experience in the field, preferably with a pediatric population
School Nurse certification preferred
Physical Requirements:
Requires standing, sitting, repetitive hand and body movements, simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine motor and gross motor skills, bending, lifting, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
Ability to lift students as required and the stamina to stand all day as needed.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., with flexibility to work during various weekend and evening school events.
