Two years’ related work experience.
Software proficiencies: Microsoft Office Suite; Google Docs Suite, FACTS.
CPR & First Aid Certification preferred.

Tuscaloosa Academy seeks a French teacher for grades PreK3 - 8th Grade. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment where value is placed on the skills and passions of the discipline within a larger context of school mission and integrative thinking. Primary responsibilities include teaching five French classes per year, serving as a student advisor, and collaborating on school-wide programming as necessary and appropriate.
The Lower School and Middle School French Teacher plays a pivotal role in our school, responsible for delivering high-quality language instruction to students at the early and middle-grade levels. As a dedicated educator, this individual will design and implement engaging, rigorous lesson plans that promote proficiency in French language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and cultural understanding. The role entails fostering a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment, nurturing students' language acquisition, and cultivating their appreciation for French culture. Additionally, the Lower & Middle School French Teacher collaborates with colleagues to align curriculum and supports students' academic and personal growth. This position offers a unique opportunity to inspire a love for the French language while fostering multicultural awareness in our Lower & Middle School community.
Lower School and Middle School French Teacher:
Exhibit knowledge of curriculum and subject matter for Lower and Middle School grades and content.
Teach additional courses to include the possibility of Foundations of Language and World Cultures/Languages.
Effectively plan engaging lessons that reflect the scope and sequence of the prescribed school curriculum.
Implement a variety of age-appropriate group and individual instructional strategies.
Conduct assessments of learning standards and use results to guide instruction.
Utilize technology effectively in the curriculum, administrative tasks, and communication.
Manage content curriculum to ensure the continuity and effectiveness of the program.
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student needs.
Manage student behavior in the classroom and according to school policies.
Assist in the selection of books, equipment, materials, and curriculum reviews.
Prepare substitute lesson plans.
Maintain accurate reports, records, and other documentation and keep records in FACTS.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings. Maintain confidentiality of students/families and internal matters.
Actively seek to be a life-long learner through professional development opportunities.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
Occasional travel, prolonged and irregular hours, frequent standing, bending, stooping, walking, and using hands. Employee is required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
