The Town School, a nursery through 8th Grade co-educational school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, seeks potential Associate Teachers in Nursery 3 - 4th Grade for the 2025-26 school year. Town embraces high academic and ethical standards for each student, and all members of the community are guided by our school motto, “Let there be joy in learning.”
The salary for this position is $55-57,000. *Base salaries do not reflect additional compensation based on degree level and stipends.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate closely with a Head teacher to:
oimplement a purposeful, aligned academic program in a nurturing environment
osupport understanding of students’ learning needs and differentiate instruction
ocreate and maintain an effective classroom environment
okeep accurate and thorough records about students’ progress
ocommunicate with parents about individual students’ progress
oprepare for and participate in Parent/Teacher conferences
oassist in the writing of midyear and year-end reports
ocarry out classroom responsibilities as designated by the Head teacher
Meet regularly with the Head teacher and Academic Specialist teachers to review
Associate teacher responsibilities, discuss teaching styles and techniques, and
plan curriculum implementation
Communicate with colleagues across the grade, the division, and the School
Collaborate with the Guidance Team and participate in all Guidance meetings
Attend all employee, divisional, and committee meetings
Continue to grow professionally through in-service training, workshops or coursework
Support the spirit of community at Town

Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
Master’s degree in relevant field in progress or completed preferred
1-3 years teaching experience in an elementary setting preferred

Experience with Readers/Writers Workshop, Fundations, Words Their Way, TERC Investigations, Context for Learning
Experience with differentiating instruction and incorporating technology in support of student learning
