CSS is seeking an innovative and creative educator with a broad skill set in reading and math intervention. A successful candidate may specialize in either or both grade subject areas depending on their areas of expertise. This position reports directly to the Lower and Middle School Director and/or Assistant Division Director and will have a variety of responsibilities related to delivering the school program.
The position’s preferred qualifications:
Bachelor's or advanced degree (preferred) in the field of reading or math
Experience teaching students from 6-8 grades in both a push-in and pull-out model
Innovative mindset with strong skills in communication, collaboration, project-based learning, and technology
Knowledge of learning disabilities, psycho-educational tests, reports, and assistive technology
Knowledge of administering and interpreting assessments and test results, academic achievement, and diagnostic testing
Proven success as a leader in program development
Full understanding of differentiated instructional strategies across the curriculum
Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
The Academic Interventionist will:
Work with students in a variety of grade levels in math and/or reading based on current students' needs
Partner proactively with faculty and administration to support students with different learning styles and teachers in their efforts to advance students with different learning needs
Participate in data analysis in order to best plan for and meet student needs
Develop and lead professional development courses for faculty about learning differences, needs, differentiation, and accommodations
Observe and evaluate individual students displaying academic difficulties and assess their learning strengths and challenges
Participate in classroom instruction as needed
Direct one-on-one or small-group instruction
Provide regular written student progress reports to the school and parents with assessment results and recommendations for diagnostic testing and remedial programs for learning-related issues
Maintain confidential student records and keep accurate documentation of sessions, meetings, and assessments
Initiate and schedule parent conferences as needed
Coordinate and facilitate communication between the student, family, school, and other involved professionals (such as Cheyenne Mountain SD 12)
Pursue professional development opportunities and/or attend conferences and professional meetings to remain current with industry trends
Participate in committee, department, and staff meetings as well as school-sponsored events that would benefit from your area of expertise
Be involved in the school community at large and participate in and contribute to a Community of Belonging in formal or informal ways
