Fryeburg Academy, a 700-student day and boarding high school in Western Maine and the Mount Washington Valley, seeks an innovative mathematics teacher beginning in the fall of 2025. This full-time position involves teaching five classes during Semester I and Semester II. The last three weeks of each school year are a stand-alone period called May Term, during which teachers offer non-traditional courses that focus on experiential learning or using knowledge in new contexts.
Fryeburg Academy faculty have significant responsibilities connected with the school's boarding program and extracurricular offerings. The Academy seeks individuals who enjoy working with high school students in and out of the classroom and who wish to strengthen its community through commitment to various roles.
Essential Job Functions
Teach math classes ranging from Pre-Algebra to Precalculus (as assigned)
Serve as an academic advisor for a group of 12-15 students
Serve on a dorm team

Basic computer literacy skills
Qualifying Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and developed, varied strategies for teaching mathematics.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in various educational settings.
Experience working with students outside the classroom (e.g., tutoring, coaching, in a residential or camp setting, or as an activity advisor) is a plus.
