Job Overview:
Hillside School is excited to announce the opening of our new Lower School campus and is seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and innovative Lower School Classroom Teachers for grades K-3. As part of our pioneering team, the successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the educational experience for our youngest learners in a vibrant, modern learning environment. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the academic, social, and emotional development of our students as we build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Excellence: Deliver developmentally appropriate lessons in literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies, while utilizing creative, hands-on, and inquiry-based teaching methods.
Student-Centered Learning: Foster a nurturing classroom environment that prioritizes individual student growth, including emotional and social development, as well as academic success.
Differentiated Instruction: Create and implement lessons that address the diverse needs and learning styles of all students, ensuring every child is supported and challenged.
Classroom Management: Develop and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture that encourages cooperation, creativity, and self-regulation.
Collaboration: Partner with colleagues in the K-3 team and throughout the school to plan, implement, and reflect on interdisciplinary units of study, incorporating best practices for young learners.
Assessment & Feedback: Use a variety of formative and summative assessment tools to track student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and their families.
Family Engagement: Build strong partnerships with parents and caregivers, regularly communicating about student progress, classroom activities, and opportunities for involvement in the Hillside community.
Professional Development: Engage in continuous learning and professional growth, contributing to the school’s culture of collaboration and academic excellence.
Integration of Technology: Use innovative technologies to enhance the learning experience and engage students in meaningful, interactive activities.
Community Building: Actively participate in school events, special projects, and initiatives that promote a sense of belonging and community within the new Lower School.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Certification: Valid state teaching certification for Elementary Education (K-6) or equivalent.
Experience: Previous experience teaching in grades K-3 or in a similar early childhood setting. Experience in a new school environment is a plus.
Skills:
A strong understanding of early childhood development and differentiated instruction strategies.
The ability to create an engaging, student-centered classroom environment.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Proficiency in using educational technology to enhance student learning.
Collaborative mindset with a desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
