Sayre School is seeking a highly motivated and qualified art teacher who desires a professional and fun working environment dedicated to student growth, progress, and achievement. The successful candidate holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Art or Art Education, experience in the field, and an interest in collaborating with a team of teachers. Job responsibilities and opportunities include:
Teaching general art classes for grades 5 - 8, and offering an after-school middle school art club one day per week.
Working with a group of advisees and supporting the social-emotional needs of students
Director for middle school Art exhibits
Developing the art program, including working with the Lower and Upper School art faculty for cross-divisional exhibits at school and in the community
Working collaboratively with the team of Visual and Performing Arts teachers and other colleagues
Collaborating with other performing arts faculty in planning and producing the annual Grandparents’/Special Persons’ Day performance
Writing narrative comments about students at the conclusion of each term
Serving on committees and occasional supervision or other duties around the school

Established in 1854, Sayre School is an independent PS through 12th grade college preparatory co-educational school located in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. A second campus, comprising a 50-acre athletic complex and farm, is several miles outside of town.
