Harrisburg Academy seeks an inspiring, innovative, and inquiry-driven educator to join our team as a Mathematics teacher beginning in August 2025. The position entails instruction of and enthusiasm for multiple levels and disciplines of mathematics with an emphasis on grades 6-8. Additionally, this team member will serve as an advisor and may be asked to contribute to the broader life of the School through coaching and/or sponsoring extracurricular programs.
Faculty members at Harrisburg Academy work closely with students and parents to provide individualized attention in an emotionally safe environment while helping students to reach their full potential. All current Criminal Record Clearances and satisfactory references will be required.
This individual will:
Be a curious and collaborative lifelong learner dedicated to facilitating and encouraging the growth of students and colleagues.
Provide meaningful instruction in Middle School Mathematics courses using a variety of research-backed and innovative teaching methods.
Collaborate with colleagues and work to build trust with students, families, and fellow Academy faculty and staff members.
Establish and maintain a safe and positive learning environment while taking all reasonable precautions to protect students, facilities, and materials.
Possess a strong character with an absolute drive for excellence, a team-oriented spirit, and a commitment to meeting the academic, emotional, and social needs of students.
Motivate student learning and participation while ensuring the integrity of the academic experience.
Reflect on one’s teaching practices through a combination of self-reflection and outside feedback.
Employ excellent written and verbal communication skills, including appropriately using technology to communicate with students, parents, and colleagues.
Demonstrate effective time management and collaborative skills.
Follow and comply with written and verbal directions and expectations of the Head of the Middle and Upper Schools and Mathematics Department Chair.
Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned.
A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and/or related fields is required, and familiarity with the International Baccalaureate program and a Master’s degree is preferred. Requirements also include teaching experience and proficiency with technology. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
