As a part of our mission to bring excellence in education to more students in the United States and globally, we are seeking expert course design consultants to build out our founding curriculum for King’s InterHigh USA in time for the opening of school in summer of 2025. This project-based assignment requires an individual with a strong depth of pedagogical and instructional expertise to build out a robust online Social Studies curriculum for grades 6-10. Course designers should be skilled in building rigorous, authentic, and meaningful learning experiences that are grounded in real-world issues. They should also have a great deal of experience tailoring curriculum to support a wide variety of learning abilities and needs.
Our course designers will be building curriculum for an innovative online school and therefore will present a great deal of opportunity for creativity. The ideal candidate will be passionate about using a wide variety of tech resources to increase student engagement and provide deeper learning opportunities for all students. This candidate should also have experience with project-based and interdisciplinary modes of learning.
This course designer consultancy offers the flexibility of remote work. The successful candidate will be responsible for building the curriculum for their subject area and will work independently, managing their own schedule and project deadlines.
Key Services:
Design complete Middle and High School Social Studies courses that align with our school's educational philosophy.
Create comprehensive course outlines, lesson plans, and instructional materials.
Select appropriate texts, resources, and technology tools to enhance learning experiences.
Build lessons for synchronous and asynchronous delivery
Develop engaging and interactive learning activities that promote active student participation and critical thinking.
Design assessments that are aligned with learning objectives and provide meaningful feedback to students.
Incorporate appropriate scaffolds and supports in all curricula that will meet the needs of diverse learners.
Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure curriculum alignment and consistency.
Make use of educational research to produce research-informed lesson resources, including: Spiralled course design, inquiry-based learning, spaced retrieval practice, questioning, chunking, stages of practice, modelling, Marzano vocabulary instruction, active student voice & choice, challenge, authentic tasks
Engage in the innovative in the use of technology and online solutions to plan engaging course content,
Use King’s InterHigh USA planning templates to meet the pedagogical and curriculum expectations of our school
Attend and use training sessions, using the content to inform planning
Take responsibility for engaging and communicating effectively with colleagues in course design, educational leadership
Use feedback proactively to develop the quality of lesson writing
Meet project/unit and lesson writing deadlines
The ideal candidate will have:
Depth of experience teaching History/Social Studies at the Secondary level in Grades 6-10
Depth of experience building curriculum from History/Social Studies standards
Excellent written and communication skills
Computer literate with the ability to teach online using technology applications
Experience in online or blended learning environments is a plus
Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and best practices in education
A passion for innovation in education
Highly organized and detail oriented
Self-motivated and able to work independently to meet project deadlines
