Position Summary: Saint Andrew’s School promotes an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth. Our faculty is deeply committed to developing students in mind, body and spirit, and are responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success. We seek dynamic individuals who are collaborative and innovative in their approach to teaching and who work to create an inclusive and supportive classroom and school-wide culture. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching the Middle Years Programme (MYP) in Math. This position will entail teaching five sections and leading a Middle School advisory class.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Implements inquiry-based instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences
Prepares course material such as syllabi, unit plans, homework assignments, and assessments ensuring completion of the curriculum
Provides students with ongoing and effective feedback about their work which includes group and peer critique, guided self evaluation and criterion-based rubrics
Plans, evaluates, and revises curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction with guidance from the Department Chair and MYP Coordinator
Maintains effective and timely record keeping procedures using educational technology
Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis
Collaborates with peers to enhance the instructional environment
Uses effective class management techniques to ensure effective learning and a positive classroom culture
Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating activities and plans
Maintains expertise in subject matter through professional development
Stays current with technology advances and incorporates technology in the classroom
Serves as a grade-level advisor and monitors the progress and well-being of assigned advisees
Attends regularly-scheduled grade level, MYP, and faculty and staff meetings
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Math or related field; Master’s degree preferred
Prior experience teaching mathematics
IB MYP experience preferred
Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and parents
Possess an understanding of technology to facilitate teaching, grades, and communication
Possess a collegiality and willingness to collaborate with colleagues
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and community members of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive classroom environment
Commitment to a growth mindset and continuous professional development
Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, and for the majority of the work day. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
