Berkeley Carroll seeks an experienced Lower School Math Coordinator to oversee the growth and evolution of our PreK-Grade 4 mathematics program. This position oversees the development and implementation of the math curriculum, collaborating with teachers on curriculum planning, pacing, assessment, and differentiation to promote alignment and student achievement. The Lower School Math Coordinator provides job-embedded professional learning for teachers, communicates the math program to families, and partners with the Lower School Math Interventionist to support students as needed. This full-time, in-person position begins August 2025
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee the implementation of the mathematics curriculum with a focus on developing a robust program that meets the needs of all learners, especially in grades K-4
Possesses expertise in integrating innovative, experiential, real-world, and play-based learning approaches into math programs to enhance engagement and deepen understanding
Collaborate with colleagues (grade teams and individuals) on curriculum planning, pacing, assessment, and differentiation
Observe practice and provide feedback to enhance and support professional learning for teachers, serving as an advisor, resource, and in-house expert in instructional approaches and practices that result in student growth and success
Partner with the math interventionist to ensure alignment and support students with small group or individual instruction
Provide intervention and extension support as necessary
Has extensive experience in creating professional adult learning communities and designing impactful professional development programs.
Monitor the use of curriculum materials and ordering or procuring additional materials as necessary
Works with Lower School Director to communicate the math program to parents/ guardians through written and verbal communication including but not limited to parent community events, newsletters and conferences with families
Collaborate with middle and upper school math department chairs to ensure alignment with regard to vision and mission

Qualifications:
Deep knowledge of and experience working with adult learners in math curriculum and program development
Experience teaching mathematics conceptually to elementary grade students
Skill in growing and supporting programs and practices that are culturally responsive
High degree of assessment literacy, and using data to inform instruction, with the capacity to lead colleagues in building their understanding of using evidence to improve instruction
Master’s Degree in Education or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as an elementary instructional coach, preferably in mathematics
Experience and knowledge associated with math curricula (such as Bridges, Illustrative Math, Singapore Math, TERC Investigations, Context for Learning), assessment tools (such as Listening to Learn, MAP Growth), and standards-based instruction and reporting
