The Academy Prep Center of Tampa (APT) is a tuition-free private middle school that exclusively serves students in grades 5 through 8 who come from traditionally underserved communities, providing them the access and opportunity to excel in a demanding academic program, followed by eight years of intensive graduate support through high school, college, and into their careers.
Like all APT faculty members, the successful candidate should be a servant leader committed to living the school's mission by inspiring students to reach their full academic and personal potential and contribute to the life of the school community.
The Surrounding Area
The Tampa campus is located minutes from Ybor City, Channelside, and the recently developed Water Street, vibrant neighborhoods with an active nightlife scene and diverse restaurants and shops. Close to numerous green spaces, pristine beaches, and sports/entertainment venues, Tampa has something for everyone.
Responsibilities
Actively monitoring student activities including breakfast, lunch/recess, and dismissal.
Teaching supplemental classes (e.g., Technology Lab, English Foundational Skills, academic intervention/support) as needed.
Leading/assisting afternoon enrichment classes.
Supervising afternoon study hall.
Leading/assisting at least two Saturday field trips per month.
Participating as a representative of APT in school fundraising events. These events may take place on select evenings or weekends.
Attending school-wide programming (e.g., Spelling Bee, Spring Showcase) to support our students and colleagues.
Living the school’s mission and core values of Loyalty, Empathy, Accountability, Diligence, Engagement, and Respect.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree required.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Experience working with children preferred.
Experience in educational settings preferred.

Compensation
On-campus fully-furnished apartment with a private bedroom and bathroom, including utilities/internet paid
Stipend of $830.77 (before taxes) paid bi-weekly
Relocation stipend of $500, with an additional $500 bonus contingent upon successful completion of the year.
Employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
401(k) with up to a 5% dollar-for-dollar match per pay period
Potential to enroll in the AmeriCorps program for eligible applicants, which can additionally provide an education award of up to $7,395.00 at the conclusion of each year. The award can be used towards student loan debt (excluding private debt) and/or continuing education.
