Latin School of Chicago is seeking an Assistant Physical Education Teacher for grades junior kindergarten through fourth grade starting in Fall 2025. The Assistant Teacher program goals are to provide each Assistant Teacher with an authentic teaching and learning experience under the supervision of lead teachers. The starting salary for this full-time position is $31,405, with additional stipends available. A high-quality employee-only benefits package is included.
What you’ll do as Assistant Teacher:
Assist the lead PE teachers and students in day-to-day classes
Help promote a safe, clean, and orderly environment for children
Build positive relationships with students, faculty, and families
Assist with technology; Update the physical education website
Organize and maintain inventory of equipment
Depending upon your interest and skills, and in collaboration with the lead teacher you may also have opportunities to:
Assist in the development and implementation of the curriculum in physical fitness, movement, and health
Assist in grading as well as student evaluation and documentation under the direction of the lead teacher

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher is required
Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in a physical education, fitness, or health-related educational setting

Able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and stressful situations
Positive, enthusiastic outlook
Works well as a team member, able to share feedback and communicate clearly
Able to independently manage, monitor and safely transition a group of 20 – 25 students.
Ability to reliably attend to and support students and teachers throughout the day.
Physical Requirements:
Able to stand and walk for long periods at a time
Able to climb multiple flights of stairs
Able to lift and move up to 20 lbs
Able to speak clearly so listeners can understand; able to understand others
Able to see details of people and objects more than a few feet away
Able to complete fine motor tasks neatly
Able to type a minimum of 60 WPM
