The Engagement Officer (EO) will work as a digital-first fundraiser as a member of the school’s Advancement team. Reporting to the Director of Leadership Giving, the EO is charged with expanding St. George’s relationships with its entry-level donors and constituents - primarily alumni - to help the school strengthen its donor pipeline. This position is eligible to be fully remote with the expectation that this person will travel to campus to participate in special events during the year such as, but not limited to, Family Weekend, Grandparents Day, Alumni Weekend, the Dragon Cups (Golf and Tennis Tournaments,) and selected regional receptions.
Core responsibilities include:
Conduct daily outreach to a preselected pool of over 1,000 donors and prospective donors, and ultimately secure at least 300 telephone or video meetings per year.
Solicit donors to support the SG (annual) Fund through telephone calls, video calls, email, text, social media, and other applicable avenues.
Prepare for and conduct primarily virtual meetings with current and prospective donors; communicate the mission and vision of St. George’s; emphasize the role philanthropy plays in supporting the school, conducting SG Fund solicitations when appropriate; and engage the donor/prospective donor by asking questions about their interests, work, background, etc. Design a donor communication/action plan to follow-up on calls.
Connect donors who are interested in learning more about giving with other members of the Advancement Office, as appropriate.
Build a donor engagement strategy emanating from the current digital engagement of constituents with the school's various electronic communication vehicles.
Create personalized videos and other digital deliverables to communicate and engage with donors and prospective donors.
Promote the SG Fund to internal and external constituents.
Conduct a select, limited amount of in-person meetings, when applicable.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
A Bachelor’s degree
Strong verbal, digital, and written communication skills
Experience in relationship building, cold calling, fundraising, or sales
Comfort in front of a camera and enthusiasm for creating videos and other digital content
Highly self-motivated and self-directed to achieve goals; tenacity and grit are essential
Inquisitiveness, and a genuine interest in others
Humility, and a willingness to learn from others and from one’s own mistakes
Creativity using artificial intelligence and other technology applications to streamline workflow
A strong belief in the value of an independent school education
Experience using relational databases and office software applications like G-suite
Experience in collegiate phone-a-thon programs a plus
