The Kinkaid School is seeking an innovative, passionate, and experienced teacher to join the Visual and Performing Arts Program starting in August 2025 as a Drawing and Painting Visual Arts Teacher. Reporting to the Director of Visual and Performing Arts, the Drawing and Painting Visual Arts Teacher is a member of a visual arts faculty that includes seven other visual arts teachers and a Gallery and Studio Coordinator. This teacher must embrace and help advance the principles set out in Kinkaid’s core documents: mission and core values, DEI commitment and strategic plan, The Visual and Performing Arts Guiding Principle, and  Portrait of a Teacher. 

The Kinkaid School is a co-educational non-sectarian day school enrolling over 1,400 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Located on a sixty-five-acre campus in the heart of Houston, Texas, the School offers a thriving intellectual community in the midst of a vibrant, urban, diverse culture. The Visual and Performing Arts program benefits from outstanding resources including five art studios, a dedicated kiln room, and numerous gallery spaces. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach Upper School sections of Drawing and Painting
• Teach 6th and 8th grade visual arts classes, with the opportunity to teach other Visual Arts courses as well
• Manage the appropriate budgets
• Serve as a member of the Visual and Performing Arts Faculty, attending all meetings, and developing and updating course curricula
• Establish and maintain open, informative and friendly communications with students and parents
• Maintain regular school hours; evening and weekend hours are also occasionally required
• Be an active member of the school community by attending games, special arts events, and become part of the overall school community
• Support the School, its mission, and its leadership

• Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts or Art Education (master’s degree preferred)
• A minimum of three years of teaching experience, preferably in a private school setting
• Core knowledge in the development of middle and upper school children
• Experience working and teaching in both traditional and digital modes 
• Exemplifies Kinkaid’s four core values (honesty, responsibility, respect, and kindness) in interactions with all members of the community
• Collegial and committed to collaborating with Visual and Performing Arts faculty
• Maintain high professional standards
