The Interim Assistant Athletic Trainer vacancy is a part-time position reporting to the Director of Athletics and the Head Athletic Trainer. In this role, the selected individual will provide support to the athletics department during games, practices, and in the training room. The core hours will be from 1pm to 6pm, or until games are finished.
The Potomac School has a Center for Athletics and Community that will rank among the best facilities in the mid-Atlantic region. The school has 72 interscholastic teams in grades 7-12 and supports 26 varsity teams. The school’s boy’s teams are members of the Mid-Atlantic Conference and the girl’s teams are members of the Independent School League.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assessing student performance, writing reports on children's progress and communicating with parents
Work flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends, depending on seasonality of sports programs
Ensure there is coverage of the athletic training room and coverage at all home practices and games
Weekend coverage of games on Saturdays should be expected, with Sunday coverage on rare occasions.
Maintains the database to record any student injury and/or treatment activity
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in the related field required, Master’s Degree preferred.
Must have an active certification with the NATABOC and be licensed in the State of Virginia or eligible for licensure.
Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures including computer skills, database management and office machinery
Valid Driver’s License at time of hire
Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends
Ability to maintain professional certification with continuing education credits
Knowledge of principles and methods for guidance regarding prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical injuries
Knowledge of human behavior, individual differences in ability, learning and motivation and performance standards
Knowledge of principles and best practices of athletic training and measurements of effectiveness
Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups in collaborative manner
