Hathaway Brown School is seeking a full time primary teacher with the flexibility to teach 1st through 4th grade. The ideal candidate possesses the skills necessary to actively engage students in the learning process while nurturing a life-long love of learning. They will have the ability to work collaboratively with a grade level teaching partner as well as colleagues in the Primary School. This candidate should have a strong desire to be part of a learning community that values innovation and creativity. The candidate should excel at implementing a quality program that meets the needs of a variety of students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Meet regularly with grade level teams to plan, set goals and objectives, prioritize learning, develop and enhance curricular units.
Manage the classroom environment in a positive manner that promotes enthusiasm for learning and problem-solving.
Engage students in ways that support their social-emotional development.
Facilitate learning by using a variety of teaching strategies to reach a range of learners.
Build community by cultivating relationships, making connections, and communicating proactively with students and their families.
Work with students on an individual basis in and outside of class time.
Provide regular feedback (written and verbal) to students and parents
Assist in preparing report cards
Attend faculty, division and in-service meetings as scheduled
Support the Mission of the School
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree preferably in Elementary Education. Master’s preferred
Valid Teaching certification in Ohio, or ability to apply for certification
A passion for teaching and learning
The ability to develop and implement an effective and engaging curriculum; a highly competent teacher
High-level of familiarity and competence across cultures and multiple perspectives
Familiarity and competence in technology skills
Superb communication skills
A growth mindset, energy and initiative
LANGUAGE SKILLS:Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with parents and/or employees of an organization.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
