POSITION SUMMARY:
International School of Boston (ISB) is seeking a dedicated and passionate three-quarter time Visual Arts teacher for Secondary School (grades 6-12) to join our multicultural team. As an ISB Visual Arts educator, you will play a pivotal role in providing a nurturing and creative learning environment in both our French and IB tracks.This position involves teaching foundational art concepts and techniques in Middle School and high school, and potentially developing advanced IB DP Visual Arts portfolios. The role includes managing studio hours and maintaining art facilities for student work outside of class time. You will foster artistic expression, critical thinking, and cross-cultural understanding through diverse media and artistic traditions. This is a three-quarter time position that includes classroom instruction and advisory responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning
Plan a program of instruction that meets students’ needs, interests, and abilities and supports them meeting learning outcomes
Proactively collaborate and plan with grade level colleagues and other teaching teams to develop and enhance curriculum materials, incorporating innovating teaching methods and technologies
Instruction
Teach students the appropriate programs of instruction in an engaging, differentiated manner ensuring all students receive high quality instruction and achieve high quality outcomes
Engage students in meaningful and regular purposeful learning experience, allowing them to explore ideas, environments, or problems while exposing them to many perspectives and worldviews.
Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and support to ensure personal, social, and academic growth
Classroom management
Create a positive climate with established routines, connections and relationships, positive discipline, restorative practice.
Communication
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, maintaining open lines of communication to support student success, with the ability to communication across lines of difference and cultural communication styles
Administrative Responsibilities
Contribute to the school community by participating in duties, extracurricular activities, school events, and committees
Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills, stay up to date with educational trends and best practices, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement
Child Safeguarding
Ensures the safety, protection, and well-being of students by creating a safe environment where students can learn grow, and thrive and taking proactive measures to prevent and respond to any forms of harm to students
Physical requirements include ability to move around the classroom for extended periods of time and capacity to lift and carry teaching materials, equipment, and supplies as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
Demonstrated ability and skills to meet the Core Competencies established by ISB as outlined above
Demonstrated knowledge of the subject area(s) being taught
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to engage in conversational English at the B1 level
Teaching certification or license from a recognized domestic or international educational authority
Minimum 3 years of classroom experience required
Background check cleared
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- PREFERRED (not required, but beneficial):
Advanced degree in Education or a related field
Experience with the IB curriculum
French Language
