St. Michael’s School, in central Tucson, is seeking an Upper School Language Arts classroom teacher for grade 7-8 to begin full-time in August 2025. Candidates for teaching in our Upper School will join a talented faculty and will work with students who are bright, motivated, and caring in a small-class setting.
Upper School teaching faculty at St. Michael’s play a vital role in shaping students' academic, social, and spiritual growth. Through a challenging and enriching experience in the fifth through eighth grades, our students build a strong foundation that prepares them for success in high school, college, and beyond.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum & Instruction: Develop, implement, and oversee curriculum, instruction, and assessment for the seventh and eighth-grade French language program.
Classroom Environment: Foster a supportive, engaging, and well-managed classroom that encourages active participation.
Classroom Culture: Establish and maintain an atmosphere of trust, fairness, consistency, and mutual respect.
Assessment & Feedback: Utilize formative and summative assessments to provide clear, timely, and meaningful feedback to students and their parents.
School Engagement: Participate in school-sponsored events and engage with students beyond the classroom setting.
Reporting and Evaluation All faculty members teaching grades 5-8 report directly to the Upper School (5-8) Division Director and undergo an annual evaluation, scheduled in coordination with the Division Head and the Head of School.
All interested candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in education or in content area (advanced study and/or Master’s degree is preferred), an Arizona teaching license (we will consider other state licenses) and two or more years of classroom teaching experience.
