Wolcott School Spanish Teacher - 2025-26 School Year
Wolcott School, an independent college preparatory high school for students with learning differences, is looking for an energetic, innovative, and highly motivated Spanish teacher to join our teaching team.
The Spanish program builds upon the belief that students' language learning should be a positive, spontaneous and non threatening process. Using the Comprehensive Input approach to teaching, students learn not only language and pronunciation skills, but also develop learning strategies and cultural competencies that will aid them as they continue their studies in later years.
Students gain listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency through the repetition of high-frequency vocabulary and grammatical structures within an interactive and meaningful context. This dynamic approach weaves lessons related to important cultural and SEL themes with listening comprehension exercises, movies, songs, physical movement, stories, and novellas. The goal of the program is to foster spontaneous, proficient, and meaningful communication in Spanish among students, interest and enthusiasm for Spanish-speaking cultures, and empathy for the people living within those cultures.
The qualified applicant will:
Utilize a Comprehensible Input / Story-telling approach to teaching Spanish
Be responsive to and enjoy working with high school students, especially those with learning differences
Use technology to expand and deepen learning for students
