Dedham Country Day School (DCD) seeks an energized, well-qualified full-time kindergarten teacher to join the robust faculty in our Pre-Kindergarten to grade 8 community for the 2025-26 school year.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach core subjects (literacy, mathematics, social studies) utilizing Lively Letters, Handwriting Without Tears, Heggerty Phonics and TERC: Investigations in Numbers, Data and Space curricula while collaborating with other educators to enhance the overall kindergarten experience
Provide a balance between academics and play-based learning
Utilize research-based social emotional learning practices to teach emotional regulation skills and build community
Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom
Provide ongoing communication with families regarding student development and compose formal comments on each student at the conclusion of each term
Support and collaborate with lower school faculty on curricular and cultural initiatives
Participate in learning team meetings, division meetings, weekly faculty/staff meetings, and professional development opportunities
Take part in the school community as a contributing member, through committee work and weekly recess and lunch duties
Perform additional responsibilities as required
Strong candidates will have:
A bachelor’s degree in education, psychology or child development with a master’s degree in education preferred
Three or more years of experience working with elementary school-aged children
Expertise in reading instruction and early-literacy development
Strong belief in a child-centered and developmentally-appropriate environment
An eagerness to embrace multicultural perspectives with experience building an inclusive environment and an awareness of anti-bias teaching practices
A willingness to participate in professional development opportunities
An ability to be flexible and adaptable in all activities and responsibilities, with an eagerness to work collaboratively on a team in a vibrant learning and teaching environment
