Beginning in August 2025, Lake Forest Academy seeks a reflective and collaborative English teacher who is an intellectually curious reader and an empathetic educator, one who can inspire a culture of inquiry while teaching skills with intention and creativity. Lake Forest Academy English teachers are skilled writers, lovers of literature and history, and eager scholars of the field. We seek teachers who inspire intellectual curiosity, creative thought, disciplined analysis, confident speaking, clear writing, and genuine appreciation of literature rooted in close reading of primary texts.
This position will teach four English classes designed to develop students who are creative and critical thinkers, close readers of varied texts, effective writers, and engaged participants.
General overview of responsibilities:
Teach assigned four sections of English courses
Provide timely feedback to students and parents
Engage in ongoing professional growth
Fulfill co-curricular expectations, often through coaching in the athletic program
Serve as a co-advisor to a small group of students
Serve on committees and task forces, as needed
If residential faculty, fulfill weeknight (once a week) and weekend (7) residential duties.

Preferred experience and/or education:
Bachelor's degree or higher required
Experience teaching a range of core English courses and electives
Experience teaching writing
Experience teaching international students, especially ELL
Experience with curricular design preferred

Lake Forest Academy offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes full medical and dental coverage, 403(b) retirement plan, and other benefits. Final salary will be commensurate with the experience and expertise of the final appointed candidate within LFA's teacher salary scale.
