The Assistant Dean of Students works in the US Office to support the work of the Upper School Administrative Team. The Assistant Dean of Students plays a vital role in supporting the social and personal development of students while fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful school culture. This position serves as a liaison between students, parents, and faculty to ensure a safe and supportive environment that aligns with the mission and values of the School. The Assistant Dean of Students, under the advisement of the Dean of Students, oversees attendance, manages minor behavioral issues, and promotes initiatives that enhance student engagement and well-being. The Assistant Dean of Students is a key leader in fostering a student-centered environment that promotes the social-emotional well-being of all students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with operations in the Upper School in alignment with the School’s mission, philosophy, and goals.
Oversee and enforce attendance policies and procedures, ensuring accurate record-keeping, timely communication with families, and appropriate follow-up on attendance concerns, including interventions and support for chronic absenteeism.
Manage minor behavioral issues by implementing the school's infraction system, tracking student infractions, communicating with families as needed, and supervising detention.
Support the Assistant Division Head/Dean of Students in organizing and overseeing orientation programs, field trips, club management, school dances, Spirit Week, class trips, assembly programs, Student Government, and other school-sponsored events, ensuring that they align with the School’s mission and foster student engagement.
Help oversee and coordinate summer preparations for the upcoming school year, including developing welcome materials, organizing student logistics (e.g. lockers and parking), and supporting orientation programs and transition activities to ensure a smooth orientation experience.
Coordinate and assign faculty duties, ensuring appropriate supervision and coverage to maintain a safe and supportive environment for students.
Provide support to advisors to create a cohesive approach to student well-being and success.
Collaborate with the US Leadership Team to help students navigate academic and social challenges.
Promote student growth and well-being in collaboration with faculty, counselors, College Counseling, and families.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should hold a master's degree
Independent school teaching and administrative experience preferred
Candidates should strongly identify with the School’s mission, philosophy, and goals
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team-oriented environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on empathetic and solution-focused communication
Highly organized and able to meet deadlines
