Annie Wright is seeking an Upper Schools (USs) Mathematics Teacher to begin on August 15, 2025. This is a full-time faculty position that reports directly to the Upper Schools Division Director.

Position Description
The Annie Wright Schools Mathematics department believes all students are mathematicians. The Upper Schools Math Teacher provides the highest quality mathematics education for all students appropriate to their intellectual maturity and course level. The USs Math Teacher aims to equip all students with a foundational understanding of mathematics so that should they choose, students are well-prepared to pursue a post-secondary degree in mathematics or other related field. Together with the Upper Schools Mathematics department faculty, the Math teacher accomplishes this through a deep commitment to excellent teaching, a well-designed curriculum, and a supportive environment for all students.
The Annie Wright Schools Math department’s main goal is for students to become better mathematical communicators. The USs Math Teacher helps students cultivate their mathematical communication by developing their problem-solving skills, analytical and quantitative reasoning skills, and understanding of mathematical concepts. The USs Math Teacher encourages students to be creators of mathematics by introducing mathematical reasoning and expecting them to take risks by being inquirers and formulating and testing conjectures. In both academic and co-curricular spaces, the Teacher is a mentor, a guide, and an advocate for student voice and exploration.
As a core member of the Upper Schools faculty, the Math Teacher works collaboratively with the Division Director and faculty to continuously assess the curriculum and review best practices, helps build a culture of inquiry anchored in playfulness and balance, and is integral in supporting and developing students that embody the school’s mission and vision.
As a member of the Schools’ Mathematics Department, the USs Math teacher is charged with collaborating with their departmental team and the Upper Schools’ Division Director. The Upper Schools Math teacher contributes to the development of students as creative thinkers and problem solvers, enabling them to become lifelong learners who are curious about understanding and improving the world through mathematics. The Math Teacher aspires to develop productive and positive mathematical identities in their students. The teacher works collaboratively with the other members of the Math Department to provide equitable, high-quality mathematics experiences that are rigorous, creative, and relevant to all of our students.
Position Overview: Duties and Responsibilities
The Upper Schools Mathematics Teacher:
Implements curriculum based on best practices in teaching, student-centered instruction, and relevant educational technologies;
Reports to the Upper Schools Division Director;
Teaches four or five Mathematics courses in alignment with the mission and philosophy of Annie Wright Schools and with the International Baccalaureate framework;
If teaching four sections, runs an after-school (s)Elective in an area of passion and/or expertise;
Participates actively in after-school and extra-curricular programming along with other members of the faculty to understand students outside as well as inside the classroom;
Fulfills all faculty duties, which can include serving as an advisor, and maintains good communication with families about student progress.

Qualifications
The USs Mathematics Teacher will demonstrate key elements of the listed expertise and experiences. Holds a BA or BS in Mathematics or a related field;
Has experience as a teacher of Mathematics at the high school level and/or middle school;

Is a mentor, a guide, and a team builder;
Demonstrates an ability to form authentic and appropriate relationships with high school students;
