Upper School teachers must be able to teach a wide range of courses within their content-area of expertise to students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate is a curious, enthusiastic leader who models lifelong learning, enjoys working with high school-aged students, is comfortable teaching multiple levels of high school chemistry, physics, engineering, mathematics (including specifically honors/advanced level chemistry and honors/advanced level physics) and has a strong interest in a project-based interdisciplinary curriculum.
Our High School science curriculum begins with biology in grade 9 and chemistry in grade 10. A recommended year of physics, along with AP courses and electives, round out the offerings. Elective courses could include Introduction to Scientific Research, Environmental Science, AP Chemistry, AP Physics 1, Robotics, Design & Engineering, Computer Science. The focus in all courses includes reading, writing, critical thinking, problem solving, depth of inquiry, and culturally responsive teaching.

Demonstrated proficiency with new technologies and a willingness to integrate technology into classroom lessons
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Organized, flexible, cheerful disposition
Experience teaching high school science (ideally 3+ years)
Experience working within independent school settings preferred
