Randolph School is situated on two campuses within a mile of each other in Jones Valley on the southeastern side of Huntsville, Alabama, which was named in the U.S. News & World Report’s list of best cities in the United States to live. The 17-acre Drake campus houses pre-kindergarten through grade eight, while the Upper School is located at the 76-acre Garth campus. The College Counseling team is comprised of the Director of College Counseling, the Registrar/College Counseling Assistant, and the Assistant Director of College Counseling. Randolph college counselors work with students and families from middle to high school, beginning with general programming in the eighth-grade year and culminating in the application process senior year. Randolph graduates find their post-secondary homes at a variety of institutions across the country, including flagship public universities, liberal arts colleges and highly selective universities. Our students aren’t afraid to forge their own path and seek the best fit for their college experience. The college counseling staff engages with each student to help them discover unique opportunities in their academic journey.
Job Description
The Assistant Director position is a full-time, twelve-month position. The Assistant Director will introduce students to the college counseling office and the path to college, coordinate AP testing, advocate appropriately for students, serve as a resource for parents, and continue learning through professional organizations, conferences, and college visit programs, both on and off-campus.
Primary Job Responsibilities of College Counseling Office
Advise students and families on course planning and selection
Conduct sessions with large groups of students
Coordinate AP and college entrance-related testing
Assist with college counseling event logistics
Manage and promote college representative campus events
Create and update communications (social media, website, written communications, printed resources)
Manage college application data (test scores, student information, and printed resources)
Qualifications
1-2 years of experience in college admissions (preferred) or college counseling
Student-centered, collaborative, approachable, detail and deadline-oriented, strong listener, open to learning new skills
