The Crefeld School seeks an experienced Art Teacher to begin August 2025.
Serving students in grades 7 through 12, The Crefeld School's mission is to graduate self-aware, empathetic, lifelong learners, who possess an appreciation for diverse perspectives, their role in society, and their ability to act as agents of change. Towards this end, we seek the same attributes in our staff. Located in Chestnut Hill, Crefeld is a gender inclusive school, providing an intentionally different college preparatory program to help students become their best selves.
Responsibilities include:
Teaching and planning 4 art classes daily for 7th -12th grade students
Teaching or supporting up to 2 non-art classes daily (no lesson planning required)
Purchasing and keeping organized many types of art materials
Keeping an organized studio space
Supporting the students in their learning process through feedback, grading, and creating a positive classroom community in the studio
Maintaining and updating Blackbaud (the school’s LMS) for each class
Advisor to 7-9 students, serving as the primary point of contact for those students’ guardians, writing report card narratives, and conducting two family report card conferences per year
Leading the planning and execution of 2 visual art shows per year in collaboration with arts teachers
Planning and leading a weekly co-curricular activity that meets once per week, during the school day
Planning and leading a week-long intensive course as part of our Spring Mini Course program, each year
Other support duties as assigned, that are shared among all staff (lunch duty, subbing classes, attending field trips, etc.)
Ideal candidates will possess the following credentials /qualities:
Master’s degree preferred, BA or BFA in art, design, or art education required
Strong advocate for meeting the needs of a neurodiverse population; experience with Universal Design for Learning a plus
Experience teaching a variety of 2D art classes and art making processes
Experience helping students prepare portfolios for admission to art college
