Compensation will be offered in the range of $80,000- $95,000. Individual offers will be specific, and based on education, experience, and benchmarking parameters.

The Associate Head of the Lower School for second through fourth grade supports the administrative functions of the lower school division. In collaboration with the Head of the Lower School, the Associate Head of the Lower School works with faculty members, families, and students and in partnership with the Associate Head of the Lower School for grades PK through first.
Essential Functions
Work as part of the Lower School administrative team to manage the day-to-day operation of the school
Provide direct support in matters of student support and guidance, parent communication, scheduling, curriculum development, faculty supervision, hiring, and coordination of substitute teachers
Develop strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents and the capacity to foster and support a positive school culture
Provide support for faculty pertaining to best practices for classroom instruction, classroom management, and curriculum development
Assist with classroom management and disciplinary issues
Generate division-wide newsletters and initiatives, and successfully manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment
Communicate with families, faculty, and staff in a culturally responsive manner that demonstrates respect for individual differences
Actively participate in professional development in order to remain current with best practices
Express a clear interest in becoming an active member of the McDonogh community
Create a school atmosphere that promotes joyful learning and an inclusive, welcoming, purposeful school tone
Demonstrate professional standards of presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion
A minimum of 5 years experience in an elementary school setting. Formal training and qualifications in early-childhood education. Masters preferred. Master's Degree preferred.
Additional Experience
Experience with Google (Docs/Sheets/Apps/Email)
Experience working in a student-centered learning environment, with practical experience with problem-based learning
Familiarity and experience with play-based curriculum
Knowledge of and experience with child development, early childhood education, and how to support diverse student needs
Knowledge of and experience with the Reading and Writing Workshop models of teaching and the Responsive classroom approach are advantageous
Proficiency using a Learning Management System such as Canvas

Working Conditions
Bending. Evening and weekend hours are often required. Lifting and carrying of equipment is typical, generally under 25 pounds. Reaching, grasping. Sitting. Standing. Stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling. Walking around campus.
