The Assistant Athletic Director reports to the Director of Athletics and Physical Education. This dual role supports managing the school’s middle school athletic program and oversees MS and LS school physical education. This AD is also charged with growing MS and LS offerings as part of athletic requirements for PE programs. With the Director of Athletics and Physical Education, the associate athletic director helps to supervise the MS coaching staff and their programs and assists in the daily operations of the athletic department.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
MS coaching staff and coaches or clinicians providing LS athletic opportunities
Supports the school’s mission at athletic contests related to player, coach, and fan behavior
Helps ADs hire, orient, mentor, and evaluate coaches in the athletic department
Assistant Athletic Trainer and per-diem athletic trainer(s)
Oversee with PE teachers, assuring that the structure of PE classes are building blocks and skills preparing them for their transition to MS competitive athletics
Organize and lead new opportunities for MS/LS students to experience athletics at GA
Evaluate and maximize opportunities for Group VII and VIII students
Expand interscholastic opportunities for Group VI students
Work with current coaches who offer LS opportunities outside of school hours and create new opportunities with a focus on current sports offered at GA
Oversee strength training and strength program for MS students
MS game management and coverage of support staff
Coordinate scheduling of facilities with all associate ADs
Establish PE offerings, hire coaches/instructors, coordinate space used for courses in partnership with the Head of the MS, and determine and enforce PE requirements
Duties/Responsibilities:
Associate Athletic Director
Confirm games in consultation with coaches and associate ADs
Prepare a weekly practice schedule to share with coaches
Sharing game day assignments with game management
Assess equipment, order new equipment and arrange for the repair of any broken equipment
Ordered, inventoried, and tracked uniforms for all sports. Currently, these are pennies for MS, but are working with AD to establish uniforms for all sports and a budget and uniform rotations for said uniforms
Coordinate and create “gear” for MS sports teams for purchase
Coordinate student billing for uniforms, equipment, and gear
Coordinate team picture taking with US AD
Communicates with parents, school nurses, counselors, faculty, division heads, coaches and athletic staff about scheduling and student information
Work within the provided budget and ensure that coaches have and understand their program budget
Obtain and maintain a van driver permit
Coach a sport
