Commonwealth Academy is seeking a dynamic and experienced Upper School History Teacher. The ideal candidate will be an Social Studies/History educator with a passion for engaging high school students in the study of world history, U.S. history and government, and global issues. This position requires the ability to differentiate social studies instruction to inform instructional practices and support student success.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Upper School History classes
Facilitate Advisory and Academic Support blocks for students.
Utilize appropriate teaching methods, materials, assistive technologies, and other resources to facilitate learning.
Establish and reinforce clear expectations, goals, and routines that align with Commonwealth Academy’s mission.
Differentiate instruction based on students' Student Action Plans (SAP), using data to inform instructional decisions and ensure individual progress.
Analyze student data and implement strategies to enable each student to access the curriculum and meet their academic and social goals.
Develop and utilize classroom materials, including lesson plans and curriculum maps designed to meet content standards.
Design, implement, and administer course assessments to track progress and address areas of misunderstanding.
Communicate regularly with families regarding student performance, including assignment completion (or non-completion) and “Incomplete” grades on report cards.
Meet school expectations for posting homework, inputting grades, sending weekly grade reports, and maintaining necessary class files and links in the student information system (SIS).
Participate in faculty professional development activities and other professional meetings.
