Punahou School is recruiting a Part Time Regular Social Studies faculty for the 2025-2026 school year, who models open-mindedness, careful listening, lively debate and rigorous independent thought. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching social studies, and a commitment to the social, emotional and ethical lives of our students. In addition, he/she/they will be committed to creating a learning environment in which students will:
Learn the skills necessary for success in a vastly changing society – questioning, writing, reading, listening, speaking, discussing, researching – and those cultivating computer literacy
Develop analytical strategies that promote fair-minded and logical points of view
Derive historical significance through understanding the impact of the past on the present and future
Respect a citizen’s rights and responsibilities and the methods by which our government functions
Instill a sense of their cultural identities along with an appreciation of the diversity of humankind
Learn how to function as positive, contributing members of society

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Schedule may vary depending on operational needs
Faculty Salary Range*:$47,264 - $95,563 - Compensation is commensurate with qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Sciences, or related field, or equivalent experience. Masters in Education (Practice/Methods) preferred.
Three (3) years of experience in teaching Social Studies in a high school, college, or related experience.
Credentials and/or related experience/expertise in the Educational Practice of Community Service, or Social Responsibility (9-12) desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability and passion for work with a broad range of students.
