The Out-of-Door Academy seeks a Middle School STEM Educator to join a thriving school that is committed to providing a rigorous, relevant, and student-centered learning experience for every student we serve. The ideal candidate will: Bring a bring a positive, professional, and collaborative approach to a talented team of colleagues within a robust Makerspace; act as a teacher, inventor, scientist, and touchpoint for integration throughout the Middle School; and be passionate about teaching the whole child, understanding the value of contributing to the broader life of the school community, including advising, coaching, and leading extra-curricular activities.
Responsibilities - Reporting to the Head of Middle School, the Middle School STEM Educator will be responsible for the following:
Work collaboratively with colleagues to design, develop, and implement Educational Technology initiatives that align with the school’s mission.
Model/Co-teach lessons and projects that integrate technology across all disciplines.
Support Educational Technology use through daily advising and more formal training of educators both in and out of the classroom.
Provide expertise with respect to iPads, MacBooks, and the Google Suite.
Manage the Makerspace as a welcoming, inspiring, creative arena for student exploration.
Create opportunities and programming in the Makerspace, including facilitating STEM-related teams and competitions.
Support the Director of STEM and Educational Technology with oversight of middle school technology objectives.
Fulfill the role of a Middle School Advisor.
Live the school’s mission and core values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and responsibility.
Qualifications - The following experience, skills and knowledge are required and/or preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
Demonstrated skills and knowledge of a master level teacher and instructional coach while maintaining a growth mindset, and actively engages others in professional development.
A successful track record of working and communicating effectively with a wide range of constituencies including students, educators, staff, and parents.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a 10-month full-time exempt position available in August 2025. Compensation is highly competitive and commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
