Job Summary: The Mathematics Department at Evansville Day School fosters deep conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills through a rigorous, mastery-based curriculum. From PK to Grade 7, we use Singapore Math with the Dimensions Math series, emphasizing visualization, number sense, and fluency. In Grades 8-12, we follow the Pre-AP and AP framework, preparing students for advanced coursework through inquiry-based instruction and real-world applications. Our approach equips students with the confidence and skills to excel in mathematics and beyond. The courses taught will depend on the expertise of the selected candidate. A successful teacher in this position understands the unique demands of working at an independent school, is passionate about the School’s Mission, and embraces its Portrait of a Graduate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach 5 sections of 6th - 12th grade math courses (specific courses will vary based on the expertise of the selected candidate - must be able to teach through Algebra II; ability to teach through Precalculus is preferred).
Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement an effective, engaging, and meaningful Mathematics scope and sequence that is vertically and horizontally aligned.
Employ research-based and innovative instructional and assessment methods.
Create a warm and well-structured learning environment with consistent routines and high expectations that encourages and supports intellectual risk-taking and growth.
Provide timely individualized feedback to students.
Communicate proactively with families.
Serve as an advisor to students.
Supervise students as assigned by Division Head.
Contribute to the life of Day School by coaching and/or leading student clubs and activities.
Be a visible presence at school events.
Actively participate in the Mathematics department.
Actively participate in faculty meetings and professional development.
Model a commitment to lifelong learning and growth.
Uphold Day School’s Mission and core values.
Other duties may be assigned by the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, or Division Head.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree, preferred.
Experience teaching, preferred. Indiana Teaching License is not required.
