We seek a full-time Science Specialist to join our team, to work within a dynamic and collaborative culture with Faculty and Staff. The position entails designing and implementing science lessons for elementary students while also supporting and coaching other teachers in science instruction.
Essential Functions:
Design multi-sensory lessons to meet science objectives
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
Present dynamic, engaging lessons to students with enthusiasm
Provide detailed lesson plans before implementation
Write thoughtful, accurate reports on student progress
Collaborate actively with other members of the science department and with other grade-level teachers
Assist in and cover science classes as needed
Attend full faculty and staff meetings.
Willing to commit to anti-bias and anti-racism work and to promoting inclusion, belonging and equity through their work in the classroom and school community.
Ensure a commitment to the school’s DEI mission and goals by participating in continuous professional development for learning differences, anti-racism and anti-bias of all kinds.

Stephen Gaynor School offers a competitive compensation package (Please note the advertised salary is FTE and will be prorated based on 21 hours) and a comprehensive professional development program. Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in education or a scientific field (Masters preferred)
Experience teaching science, at the elementary level preferred
Experience working with children with learning differences
Independent school teaching experience preferred
Knowledge of the cognitive, linguistic, and developmental needs of elementary students
Strong communication, organizational and collaboration skills
Sets a respectful, collaborative, and positive tone, both inside and outside of the classroom and recognizes our responsibility to create a diverse and inclusive environment that supports and celebrates each individual in our school community
Ability to be flexible to ensure the needs of all learners are met
Manages time to maximize student learning
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proficiently uses Google Workspace (Drive, Docs & Sheets) and Microsoft Office
