The Archer School for Girls seeks a skilled and experienced filmmaker to teach film classes and oversee the Archer Film Festival, an international high school film festival dedicated to empowering women in film. The ideal candidate will have an MFA in film or equivalent professional experience and a passion for supporting the next generation of female filmmakers. The position starts in August 2025.
As a film instructor, you will guide and mentor students in all aspects of filmmaking, utilizing Archer’s state-of-the-art Media Arts Lab, which includes a professional lighting studio, screening room, and editing bays.
The role requires a dynamic educator who can collaborate with faculty across disciplines, foster creativity and storytelling, and mentor student leaders and filmmakers. Experience in festival programming or event coordination is a plus.
Responsibilities include:
Teaching film courses for grades 6-12, as assigned
Teaching proper use of all film-related software and equipment
Overseeing the Archer Film Festival and its student Leaders
Serving as a mentor/advisor to students
Supervise and maintain Archer’s Media Arts Lab
Organizing and developing student film showcases
Developing instructional materials, activities, and assessments that promote student learning and engagement
Overseeing the film department budget, including film festival-related expenditures
Participating actively in departmental and school-wide events
A commitment to continuous professional development

Salary range: $69,463 - $124,022 annually (depending on qualifications and experience)
