The Grade 3 classroom teacher will provide instruction for a range of subject areas, such as reading, writing, math and social studies. The candidate is expected to demonstrate an ability to integrate unit studies into the different subject areas to provide students with a robust, well rounded learning experience. Lastly, the candidate should have an innate joy and interest in teaching this age group.
Responsibilities:
Supporting the mission and philosophy of the school
Creating a respectful and joyful classroom community through regular class meetings/check-ins, positive interactions with students, and setting clear expectations for community behavior
Assessing, evaluating and accurately documenting and communicating student progress
Collaborating with the lower school teaching team, specialist teachers to develop and/or enhance curriculum, plan trips or special projects, and support students
Working closely and liaising with other professionals and service providers to support and/or discuss individual student needs
Performing other related duties as assigned by the Head of School and Head of Lower School
Qualifications
A warm, caring individual who has demonstrated a specific interest and affinity teaching this age group. The candidate must have 3 or more years of relevant teaching experience.
Must have a degree in education or related field and a relevant master's degree is a plus
Knowledge of effective instructional strategies, differentiated instruction, and interdisciplinary learning to support critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Flexibility, openness and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students
