Athletic Trainer
The Wardlaw+Hartridge School – Edison, NJ

The Wardlaw+Hartridge School seeks a dedicated and highly organized Athletic Trainer to join our athletic department. The Athletic Trainer will provide comprehensive care to student-athletes, including emergency care, injury rehabilitation, and ongoing communication with key stakeholders. This role ensures that all athletes are medically cleared to participate, maintains accurate records, and upholds the highest standards of health and safety. The Athletic Trainer will also work with the athletic department to assist as needed with athletic events such as award ceremonies, equipment management and various tasks that the athletic department needs to complete.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide emergency care and injury management for student-athletes.
• Oversee rehabilitation programs to ensure a safe return to play.
• Maintain detailed medical records of injuries, physicals, and treatments using Rank One software.
• Communicate effectively with the school nurse, coaches, athletic director, faculty, and parents regarding student injuries and recovery plans.
• Manage medical supply inventory and coordinate the reordering of necessary supplies.
• Distribute emergency contact information for all teams.
• Monitor and communicate athlete eligibility based on medical clearances.
• Conduct baseline concussion testing using Sway and oversee concussion management.
• Administer and track pre-participation physical exams and all required medical paperwork.
• Review and update medical policies as needed, including:
  • Emergency Action Plan
  • Concussion Policy
  • Janet’s Law Compliance
• Work with the school physician to set up injury clinics and on campus physical exams.
• Oversee and maintain AEDs throughout the school campus.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field.
• BOC-certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and licensed (or eligible for licensure) in New Jersey.
• CPR/AED certification.
• Experience in a school or collegiate setting is preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Rank One or similar electronic medical record systems is a plus.

Position Details:

This is a full-time, twelve-month position with competitive compensation and benefits.

• The Athletic Trainer will report to the Athletic Director and work closely with the school nurse and coaching staff.
• Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
