Job Summary: Buckingham Browne & Nichols School (BB&N) seeks an enthusiastic and collaborative Middle School Academic Technology Specialist to join our All-School Technology Department. This educator will support faculty, staff, and students in integrating technology into curriculum and classroom experiences. The position is based at the Middle School campus (Grades 7–8) and reports to the Director of Academic Technology.
We are looking for a dynamic educator who is passionate about technology integration, creative project-based learning, and student-centered innovation. The Academic Technology Specialist will work closely with teachers to design meaningful learning experiences, lead engaging professional development, and support a robust maker education program. An undergraduate degree in education or technology, or a related field, is preferred.
Technology Leadership & Instructional Integration:
As part of BB&N’s Academic Technology Team within the larger All-School Technology Department, the Middle School Academic Technology Specialist leads the charge in thoughtfully integrating digital tools into teaching and learning. They collaborate closely with faculty to enhance instruction, design professional development around third-party platforms, and contribute to campus-wide and school-wide technology policies. A strong candidate will bring prior experience supporting middle school educators and students in developing responsible, inquiry-based digital learning environments.

Partner with faculty to design and implement technology-rich lessons that enhance learning across disciplines

Design and facilitate faculty professional development sessions on tools like Canvas, Google, and other third-party applications

Co-lead student technology orientation, including responsible use training and rollout of the Technology Use Policy (TUP)

Collaborate with the Middle School Library Director and academic departments on interdisciplinary initiatives

Liaise with Middle School families on technology-related topics

Attend Academic Technology Team meetings, All-School Technology Department meetings, Middle School Department meetings, and Middle School Department Heads meetings

Support the Help Desk team by triaging Tier 1 requests as needed, while maintaining a primary focus on faculty coaching and instructional integration
Makerspace Vision & Innovation Leadership:
The Academic Technology Specialist leads the Middle School Makerspace as a vibrant, well-resourced hub for creative exploration, problem-solving, and design. Beyond maintaining equipment and managing budgets, they proactively design programs that ignite student engagement and help faculty bring hands-on learning to life across the curriculum.

Oversee the day-to-day management of the Middle School Makerspace, including equipment, systems, and supplies

Partner with faculty to design and support integrated maker-centered learning experiences

Lead E Block sessions focused on hands-on skills and design thinking

Manage the makerspace budget and inventory

As a full member of the Middle School faculty, the Academic Technology Specialist plays a vibrant role in shaping student experience. Whether teaching, advising, participating in co-curriculars, or partnering on school initiatives, they help create a joyful, connected, and mission-aligned community grounded in curiosity and belonging.
