Founded in 1934, Rocky Hill Country Day School is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school in East Greenwich, RI made up of 300 students in nursery through grade 12. We are seeking a music teacher who brings joy, creativity, and energy to their work with young learners and who has the experience and passion to build and implement a dynamic, developmentally appropriate music curriculum. The ideal candidate will be:
be excited and engaged in the classroom, and truly enjoy working with elementary-aged children
understand how to incorporate instruments such as ukuleles, recorders, rhythm sticks, and Orff instruments into hands-on, active music-making
foster a deep love of music through singing, movement, listening, improvisation, and creative exploration
have experience leading an elementary vocal ensemble
plan, rehearse, and direct students in at least two school performances annually.,
attend music-related field trips
be confident, flexible, and ready to join a collaborative school environment
open to working with a diverse range of learners and musical experiences, and ideally has experience with diverse learning styles
strong in classroom management skills
have piano accompaniment skills, but not required
