The Wheeler School, a co-ed, N-12 independent day school with city and farm campuses serving approximately 800 students in the Greater Providence and Greater Boston areas, is seeking a full-time Upper School Librarian to join our Upper School.

 As a teacher at Wheeler you will become part of a dynamic and passionate faculty and work with talented and engaged students every day. The position also involves serving as an advisor to upper schoolers, including related advising responsibilities. Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:

Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain an inviting, safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity. 
• Foster skills of research, critical thinking, and the ethical use of information.
• Ensure flexible and equitable access to resources that support the student’s academic and personal learning needs.
• Develop and maintain an up-to-date, culturally diverse collection of print and non-print resources appropriate to the curriculum and that reflect student interest.
• Collaborate with faculty members, including members of the academic support team,  to create an environment that is conducive to active and participatory learning. 
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to teach research instruction and information literacy, and design instructional tools for a broad range of learners, classes and subjects. 
• Manage annual collections and programming budgets for the Upper School library.
• Work as part of a grade team and faculty advisor for a group of roughly ten students.
• Manage and supervise students in the library during school hours. 

Qualifications:

• Three - five years of experience and a Masters of Library Science.
• A deep commitment to the experience of the student and a passion for working with teenagers.
• An interest in innovation.
• A passion for libraries and 21st century learning. 
• Strong collaborative skills.  
• Knowledge of platforms such as LibGuides, Noodletools, Follett Destiny Library Manager, variety of research databases, and how to create digital content.
