Position Overview

The STEM Teacher plays a key role in fostering curiosity and foundational understanding in Math and Science. They inspire a love for learning and support the school’s vision of academic excellence by designing and delivering an engaging STEM curriculum aligned with international standards. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of the STEM and Math curriculum and to gain experience within an International Baccalaureate (IB) framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach engaging, age-appropriate STEM and Math lessons for early years and primary students.
  
  
• Lead Science and Math extracurricular programs.
  
  
• Assess student learning and provide documented evidence for portfolios several times per academic year.
  
  
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to align STEM instruction with broader curriculum goals and ensure meaningful cross-disciplinary integration.
  
  
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding the STEM program and individual student progress.
  
  
• Participate in the school’s assessment strategy and evaluation process.
  
  
• Attend staff meetings and actively contribute to the broader life of the school community.
  
  

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education or a related field.
  
  
• Demonstrated success teaching Math and/or STEM to young learners, whether as a stand-alone subject or as part of a wider curriculum.
  
  
• Passion for primary and early childhood education.
  
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  
  
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  
  
• Commitment to international and multicultural education.
  
  

Preferred:

• Familiarity with Singapore Math.
  
  
• Experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.
  
  
• Experience working in bilingual or international school settings.

About Tessa International School

Tessa International School (Tessa) is a premier international, bilingual school which opened in December 2017, in Hoboken, New Jersey (one subway stop away from Manhattan, NYC). In 2024-2025 we offer classes up to grade 4. We will grow up to grade 5 in subsequent years. We are 80/20 immersion through Kindergarten, and then 50/50.
